Muslim Women’s Coalition

Empowering Muslim Women Leaders

Muslim Women’s Coalition has been at the forefront of building leadership opportunities for Muslim women across the United States. They are committed to civic engagement, education, advocacy, and empowering women to take active roles in shaping their communities. Over the years, MWC has:

  • Mobilized Muslim women around critical issues of justice and equity.
  • Built partnerships with interfaith and civic groups to amplify Muslim women’s voices.
  • Created programs that inspire leadership at every level: from grassroots organizing to national advocacy.
  • Organized impactful campaigns on issues like domestic violence awareness, women’s rights, and civic participation.

MWC recently made national headlines when the Archewell Foundation, founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, announced it was pulling back its funding. While this presented a challenge, it also shed light on the critical need to invest in organizations like MWC, which are leading important work in advocacy and empowerment. This moment highlighted just how vital strong, sustainable fundraising systems are for nonprofits to thrive regardless of external circumstances.

This month, Oaktree Institute had the privilege of working with MWC through a Fund Development training led by our trainer, Nadeem Riaz. Together, we explored strategies to:

  • Strengthen donor stewardship and relationship-building
  • Leverage storytelling to highlight MWC’s powerful impact
  • Expand fundraising systems that support long-term sustainability
  • Build capacity for major gifts and donor engagement

The result was an energized team with fresh tools and strategies to sustain their mission for years to come. At Oaktree, we believe that when women thrive, communities thrive and Muslim Women’s Coalition is proof of that vision in action.
