Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids
How ICCR Strengthened Its Future with Strategic Clarity
The Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids (ICCR) is one of Iowa’s oldest and most active Muslim institutions, serving families, youth, and community members through programs that nurture faith, education, and service. As their community continued to grow, ICCR sought to strengthen its leadership alignment and build a clear roadmap for its next chapter. ICCR’s leadership recognized the need for a unified vision that could guide decision-making, improve communication, and ensure sustainable growth. With multiple programs and voices shaping their work, they wanted a strategy that reflected both their legacy and their future aspirations.
Our Work Together:
Over a 10-month engagement, Oaktree Institute partnered with ICCR to co-create a comprehensive strategic plan through:
- Assessment and Discovery: Conducting leadership interviews, stakeholder surveys, and focus groups to capture insights across the community.
- Strategic Planning Retreat: Facilitating a 1.5-day retreat led by Tarek Mourad, bringing together board members, school administrators, youth leaders, and key community voices to define shared priorities and actionable goals.
- Implementation Support: Hosting follow-up working sessions focused on youth programming and board development, helping teams define objectives, key results, and accountability structures.
By the end of the engagement, ICCR emerged with a clear, actionable roadmap and stronger alignment across leadership teams. The organization gained renewed confidence, a shared sense of direction, and practical tools to turn vision into measurable impact, laying the groundwork for long-term success.
We’re honored to partner with institutions like ICCR who are leading their communities with purpose and clarity. If your organization is ready to strengthen its vision, align leadership, and plan for lasting impact, Oaktree Institute is here to help.
