Marketing Manager

Role Summary

Oaktree is seeking a Marketing & Storytelling Manager who can turn ideas, insights, and organizational impact into compelling content that educates the Muslim nonprofit sector and amplifies Oaktree’s thought leadership.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a nimble, fast-moving, startup-like environment, takes initiative, and is excited to help build a movement around institutional strength.

You will work closely with the Executive Director and Operations team to produce content, manage social media, support events, and maintain brand consistency across all platforms.

This is a 20-hour/week role, with potential to expand as the organization grows.

Core Responsibilities

Thought Leadership Content

  • Develop articles, insights, and narratives that communicate Oaktree’s mission and expertise
  • Produce case studies that highlight organizational transformation
  • Support monthly newsletter creation and publishing

Social Media Content Engine

  • Manage and publish content across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Create posts that reinforce Oaktree’s brand promise and positioning
  • Coordinate graphics, clips, and assets with interns

Website Content Updates 

  • Update messaging, case studies, and content on the website
  • Collaborate with our web developer for any technical changes

Event & Webinar Promotion

  • Promote monthly webinars, leadership summits, and other events
  • Create promotional content and coordinate registration pushes

Marketing Calendar Ownership

  • Maintain a clear, organized marketing calendar
  • Ensure consistent execution across all channels

Brand Consistency

  • Ensure all content aligns with Oaktree’s brand promise, positioning, and messaging framework
  • Maintain consistent tone, visuals, and messaging across platforms

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Storytelling ability — able to turn raw ideas into polished content especially around leadership, governance, and organizational effectiveness
  • AI fluency — comfortable using AI tools for content creation, editing, research, and workflow acceleration
  • Startup mindset — proactive, resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity, eager to build
  • Agile execution — thrives in a fast-moving, small-team environment
  • Initiative and ownership — anticipates needs and moves work forward without waiting
  • Project management — able to manage calendars, workflows, and interns
  • Understanding of the nonprofit sector (preferred but not required)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience producing thought leadership content
  • Experience writing case studies or interviewing clients
  • Experience supporting newsletters or social media content
  • Experience working in small, agile teams
  • Experience using AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, Notion AI, etc.)
